For all materials or material colors to be added into PLM, it is best practice for a the team member to reach out to the RM Team (via email) and request that the material and/or material color be entered into PLM. The Handbag Team will enter their own materials and material colors as needed. The Sweater PD Team will enter their own yarn materials and yarn material colors as needed. The Denim & Non-Denim PD Team will add their own material colors (Color Type: Wash (Denim)) to Fabrics (Fabric Type: Denim) as needed. PLM: Material - Merch Material Description
As of 8/28/2024. On the material types "Fabrics," "Handbag & SLG Fabrics" and "Yarns" there is a field called "MERCH MATERIAL DESCRIPTION." At Material Overview Edit: At Material Overview: This field is intended to house customer facing material information for materials utilized as Design Main Materials (DMMs.) The Team Responsible for creating/updating the material in PLM will be responsible for filling out this field with a customer facing material description (when applicable), and then passing this information to the Merch Team about 3 weeks before line open. Re. Material Types: "Fabrics" & "Handbag & SLG Fabrics": The MERCH MATERIAL DESCRIPTION should always be filled out for the fabric types: Woven, Knit, Plastic Sheeting, Real Leather/ Suede, Vegan Leather/ Suede. The MERCH MATERIAL DESCRIPTION can sometimes be filled out for the fabric type: Denim (though sometimes this may need to be managed at the style level as wash can affect this description.). Re. Material Type: Yarns The MERCH MATERIAL DESCRIPTION can be filled out for YARNS but may need to be managed more at the style level depending on the materials used, and stitch/ gauge/ end combination. About 3 weeks before line open, the Team Responsible for creating/updating the material in PLM is to export this information from PLM and share with the Merchandising Team for all DMMs utilized on the seasonal collection.
