Each Design in PLM has both a system generated Design No. and Style No. When creating new and updating existing Designs in PLM, please keep the status' of these fields set to "Auto Generate." This will allow the system to WORK FOR US when we need it to. When we leave these status' set to "Auto Generate" the system will help to assign unique codes to both Design & Style No. fields. The goal is for every design to have both a UNIQUE DESIGN NO. & a UNIQUE STYLE NO.

For Design No.s, the PLM system generates a unique number as outlined below. The first character pulls from a single digit code associated with the classification selected for the design. The following 3-4 digits are a sequence of numbers in numerical order. Design No. Generator for all Designs (except Handbags & Small Leather Goods): 5 characters Design No. Generator for the Design Type Handbags & Small Leather Goods: 4 characters The Codes that relate back to classifications can be found in attached document.
